Hello

I’m Heidi, a Bristol-based family & wedding photographer specialising in portraits and documentary style captures of motherhood, family life & weddings. I cover Bristol, Bath, Somerset and South West England providing photoshoots within your home, garden or outdoors in the city or nature.

I truly believe in the importance of capturing these days, of turning your everyday moments into everlasting artistic keepsakes. I have a relaxed documentary approach to my sessions, I aim to provide you with an accurate lasting record of real memories, not awkwardly posed bodies and smiles through gritted teeth. I am here to capture your story through genuine interactions between loved ones and intimate storytelling details; the soft wisps of toddler hair, the subtle loving touch of a mothers hand, the treasured possessions that surround you, the stolen glances.

Offerings

What People Are Saying about Heidi

“We had a motherhood / breastfeeding shoot with Heidi at our house. She was professional but absolutely lovely from the start and made us feel completely at ease. She bought a beautiful white gown from her client wardrobe for me to wear which made the whole process so much easier not having to plan an outfit. She had some amazing ideas for shots and somehow managed to work around our dodgy wallpaper! The final edits are absolutely incredible – Heidi captured some intimate and special moments with my baby girl so beautifully. I am not body confident but I look at the photos and feel so proud and empowered. We will cherish these photos for ever.”

I had a motherhood shoot with Heidi at my house. Not only is she incredibly talented
but she put me at ease instantly and was so good with my baby. The shoot was fun and relaxed and I will treasure the photos forever.

“Having followed Heidi for a while on Instagram before booking her, I already knew her work was beautiful. Yet, I was not quite ready for just how special and stunning my own photos would be! I am absolutely blown away with the shots. They are a wonderful keepsake and a snapshot of this time in my motherhood journey, as well as a celebration of my breastfeeding journey. Heidi was truly amazing from the moment I reached out to her. She put me completely at ease with how relaxed and understanding she was, and she so naturally captured the bond between my son and I. Being quite an anxious person, she was just so comfortable to be around, which made the skin-to-skin unclothed shots super relaxed. The clothes and props she brought along with her were all gorgeous and her attention to detail was just beautiful. Thank you again Heidi, I will cherish my photos forever and hope to work with you again in the future!”

FAQs

How do I book?

If you are interested in working with me, I would love to hear from you. I recommend having a good look through my website and my recent work on Instagram, just to make sure that my style is in keeping with your needs. First things first, reach out to me via the enquiry form on my website, or by emailing directly at info@heidihustedphotography.com. From here I can answer any immediate questions you may have, give you a little bit more information about packages and offerings and we can also discuss potential dates. Once we have a date in mind I’ll send you a booking link with a questionnaire, a contract and an invoice. Bookings are secured with a 50% retainer and signed contract.

After this I will send you a booking confirmation and a styling guide. I offer either a Zoom or telephone call to discuss location, styling, logistics, expectations, artistic approach etc and we can book this in a little closer to your session, usually about 2 weeks before.

This call gives us a chance to “meet” prior to our session and can alleviate any anxieties you might have about having you photographs taken. I will talk to you about my approach during the session and what might be expected of you, but it will also help me get a feel for you and your needs, so that I can deliver the best possible outcomes for you. This is not a compulsory call though and we can do this all via email if you’d prefer.

What happens if it rains?

As a general rule I say if its proper raining we reschedule. If the shoot is time sensitive i.e. maternity/newborn, I will do my absolute best to make time for you within 2 weeks.

If it’s drizzling or just wet on the ground, then we embrace the atmospheric beauty of the rain and we go for it. I’ll check the weather leading up to our shoot and will contact you, if I feel it might be too wet.

Money is tight, do you offer payment plans?

Absolutely yes! Money is sometimes tight, thats life, especially if you are welcoming a new addition into the household or you are about to go on maternity leave (which lets face it is most of my clients). This shouldn’t stop you from having beautiful photographs of this really special time in your life though. I offer payment plans with all packages including mini-shoots. We can break your session fee up into more manageable payments, spreading the cost over 4 or 5 monthly interest free payments. Just ask when you enquire.

When?

I normally offer outdoor sessions at sunrise and sunset, the light is soft and dreamy and it.will.make.your.photographs, trust me. It’s honestly so worth the early morning alarm or one off late bedtime, think of it as an adventure. Photographs are quite literally paintings with light, so we really need to get that part spot on before anything else. If you really cannot stomach the thought of a late bedtime or an early morning, then we can discuss this, but unless its a really overcast day then the middle hours of the day are very unkind to photographs and I try to avoid them, especially in summer.

In home sessions can be done during any daylight hours, but I will normally suggest we book them in mid-morning.

What should I wear?

I send out a styling guide to all clients prior to our session, we can also discuss outfits during our zoom call and I am always happy to give my opinion on clothes you already have or are thinking of purchasing at any point during the process.

As a general rule I suggest wearing something in neutral or earthy tones. Try to avoid big patterns, logos’s and extremely bright colours. Try to think about incorporating interesting fabrics and textures, think knits, flowing dresses, linen, ribbed fabric etc. If you are a family, use complimentary colours, don’t try and match completely. If you are pregnant consider wearing something that opens down the middle so we can capture your beautiful bump. Or wear nothing? Just saying!

Where?

Well this one is kind of up to you. There are 3 options. I offer in-home sessions; I come to you and document you authentically in your own space amongst your personal things, great for newborn photography or intimate moherhood and breastfeeding photoshoots, or perhaps you just want to capture your family with your home as your backdrop? In-home “studio-style” sessions; with these I come to you but bring a simple neutral coloured back drop, perhaps some foliage if thats your bag and a light if needed - great for those who would like an in-home session but are worried about decor or clutter. Or you can have your photoshoot in a beautiful outdoor location and we can go on a wild adventure amongst the green and blue hues of nature. Some of you will have a clear idea of the location that would be your ideal backdrop i.e. rocky beach, wild sand dunes, rolling countryside or moody woodland. I have pre-chosen locations to suit most requests, but if you have somewhere specific or meaningful in mind then we can absolutely go there.
